A Hidden World pg 53

And the name of the mystery dragon is revealed!

Some of you may remember him, others may not. But this is in fact Bakida:

I did alter his design a bit, mainly because I just have soooooooooo many black dragons. I also changed his breed. He's now an Ancient Flame Dragon.

I've been waiting to draw this page for soooo freaking long you guys! Such an EPIC battle between the two of them, and Draigon is getting his ASSKICKEDHARDCORE by Bakida! Guess that's what happens when you take on an Ancient Flame Dragon. Which surprisingly, this isn't the first time Draigon has fought one.

Waaaaaaay back in the day, I had a crappy starter comic I made in crayon that told the story of how Darkblaze came to be. In it, Draigon has two Ancient Flame dragons under his command through the power of a spell. Neffertity breaks the curse enthralling them, and they turn on Draigon. In their battle, he is burned on the back of his neck by the two of them. And burns from Ancient Flame dragons NEVER HEAL. Most burns on my dragons will heal after a certain time, but not these burns. He still bares the scars from his battle with them, as a bit of a throwback to that very first comic.

I really enjoyed drawing all the different angles in this page. And Draigon's face when he gets slammed into the ground looks epic. Bakida literally lights himself on fire, then grabs Draigon before ground-slamming him into the earth below. And all the while his arm bands are glowing, amplifying his elemental powers. You can bet Draigon is feeling the pain from his attacks.

Anyways, I just wanted to upload this page before going back to work on my commissions.
